Troubleshooting

  • Check your connection and reload this page.
  • Press “Try again” to request the editor a second time.
  • Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  • Try a different launch option above, for example a fallback renderer.

Needs a current desktop browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

  • The first launch downloads the engine (about 25 MB), so give it a moment on a slow connection.
  • Save or export before you close or reload the page: PhotoCraft has no autosave and no crash recovery, and FreeAIGeneration stores no documents for you.
  • Saving and exporting hand the file to your browser as a download — allow downloads for this site, or the save silently does nothing.
  • Your preferences are kept in this browser for this site only, so clearing site data resets them.
  • The file picker lists PSD and PSB. Upstream also documents opening and re-saving them at v0.7.0; we did not independently verify a full PSD round trip.
  • PhotoCraft is an independent open-source project, not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Adobe Inc.
Compatibility

Needs a current desktop browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. It renders with WebGPU and falls back to WebGL2 on its own; add ?webgl if a graphics driver misbehaves, or ?cpu for the most compatible (and slowest) path. WebGPU and clipboard access need HTTPS.

This tool needs a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari with JavaScript enabled.

How to use this editor

  1. Open a photo or start a blank document

Use File, then Open (Ctrl+O): the picker lists PSD, PSB, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, WebP, GIF, BMP, TGA, EXR, HDR, HEIC and the raw files of the main camera makers. File, then New opens an empty canvas instead.

  2. Build the stack in the Layers panel

Add layers, masks, adjustment layers and layer styles. The Layers panel shows every layer with its thumbnail, and the Properties panel keeps the document size and colour mode in view while you work.

  3. Select before you retouch

Selections, masks and adjustment layers keep a change inside one area instead of flattening the rest of the image. Type and vector shapes stay editable on their own layers.

  4. Save the editable file, then export a flat copy

File, then Save (Ctrl+S) or Save As… keeps the layered document. Quick export writes a PNG, the advanced export offers the other formats, and the file reaches your browser as a download. Allow downloads for this site: a blocked download fails without a message and PhotoCraft keeps no copy.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open a Photoshop PSD or PSB file?
Both are in the editor’s real file picker, and upstream documents opening and re-saving them at this version. We have not independently verified a complete PSD round trip, so keep your original and check the saved file before you rely on it.
Where does a saved or exported file go?
Into your browser’s downloads. There is no account and no document storage on our side, PhotoCraft has no autosave, and a blocked download fails silently, so allow downloads for this site and save before you close the tab.
Does this photo editor work on a phone?
The page asks for a current desktop browser, and the first launch downloads about 25 MB of engine data. A desktop or laptop is the honest recommendation; nothing here promises a phone or tablet layout.
Is this an AI photo generator?
No. PhotoCraft is a layer-based image editor: you open a photo, build the stack yourself and export the result. The page claims no generative feature, and FreeAIGeneration is only the name of this site.
